The Art of Writing by Lu Chi (261-303) →
1. The Motive Standing erect in the center of all, The poet views the expanse of the whole universe, And in ancient masterpieces His spirit rejoices and finds nurture. His lament for fleeting life Is in observance of the four seasons as they pass, His regard for the myriad growing things Inspires in him thoughts innumerable. As with the fallen leaves in autumn’s rigor His heart sinks in...

Southern Baptists Have Not Always Embraced... →
Included in these celebrations (of Christmas by Southern Baptists) were distinctive regional customs such as the popular consumption of pork (over poultry); the broader use of almost anything green in nature for decorations besides holly, evergreens, and mistletoe; discharges of firearms; fireworks; and bonfires. These celebratory activities took place alongside more thoughtful observances of...

Why Do People Call It "Xmas"?
mentalflossr: Lots of people think the X in Xmas is a secular watering down of the word Christ. You know, “we love to celebrate the holiday but don’t believe in Jesus,” sort of thing.
